One Direction: This Is Us (DVD Review)

Everyone is talking about One Direction at the moment. The biggest boy band of recent times, One Direction are currently taking over the world. Television appearances, tours of the world and fans screaming in the street are all in a day's work for these boys.

A product of the UK X Factor, One Direction have gone on to sell millions of albums worldwide. They have fans the world over with people dedicated to following their every move.

I will admit before watching this film I wouldn't have considered myself to be a One Direction Fan. I mean I know some of their songs but I wouldn't put them on a list of my favourite bands or buy tickets to see them on stage. I wasn't particularly interest in their DVD either. I happened to have a day off work and with nothing good to watch on television I downloaded 'This Is Us' from blinkbox.

The movie gives us an all-access look at life on the road following one of the world's biggest bands. Enjoyable from the start, the film tells the story of Harry, Niall, Liam, Zayn and Louis' rise to fame. A film for the fans, it follows the bands journey around the world - showing us how insane life can be being a part of one direction.

I am surprised to say that I really enjoyed watching this film. I was impressed with the quality of the film and the time taken to interview the boy's individually on their opinions about life in the band. I also loved the added concert footage shown throughout. It really helped me to understand more about the life these boy's lead. I just wish there could have been more of it - more backstage snippets of the boy's going about their day to day lives.

.

A film for the fans and in part about the fans has made me a little bit of a One Direction Fan. I may even buy the next album.

What did you guys think of the film? I'd love to hear your comments.

Review: Soap and Glory Bubble Barrelled Gift Set

I will be completely honest, before trying this gift set I had never used a Soap and Glory product. Ever. I've been meaning to give them a try for a while but have never got round to buying them. For some reason I've always stuck with buying Sanctuary Spa Products.  So when I saw this Gift Set for £18 in Boots, I couldn't resist.

If you are anything like me and like to try out a product before committing to buying them in full size, this 7 in 1 gift set is perfect. In this set you'll find miniatures of:

CLEAN ON ME Shower Gel
HEEL GENIUS Foot cream
THE RIGHTEOUS BUTTER Body Butter
THE SCRUB OF YOUR LIFE Body Buffer
HAND FOOD Hand Cream
GLAD HAIR DAY Daily Shampoo
Soap and Glory Headband

The Clean On Me Shower Gel is one of my favourite products in this gift set. It smells amazing and left my skin feeling hydrated and refreshed. After speaking to other bloggers about this product some said it wasn't creamy enough but my experience with this product was the polar opposite. I found it to be very creamy and found that a small amount would last me my whole shower.

As a long distance runner, my feet have always been quite dry. I brought this set hoping this product might make a difference and it has. I really like this cream and spread it quite liberally on my feet. Within a week I have noticed how soft my feet have become especially around the heel area. The smell of this product isn't to my personal taste but it does the job on my feet.

The next product in the set is The Righteous Butter. Perfect for dry skin, I applied this after I came out of the shower to damp skin. I really like this product and loved the refreshing smell. It left my skin feeling very soft and hydrated.

Scrub of Your Life is a thick, fresh smelling body buffer that left my skin feeling silky smooth. It smells great and got rid of any dry skin I had leaving my skin feeling soft. This was my favourite product in the set and I cannot wait to buy the full sized product.

My hands are easily my worst feature. Working in retail, cardboard leaves my hands feeling very dry and irritated. This product for me was perfect. It contains shea butter, macadamia oil and marshmallow and smells lovely. The problem I have with a lot of hand creams is how long it takes to sink in and how greasy my hands feel afterwards. I had no such problem with this product as it soaked into my skin very quickly leaving my hands feeling smooth.

I didn't buy this gift set for the shampoo. I find the Aussie products to be amazing and use them as my everyday shampoo and conditioner. I honestly don't think you can beat them. However, I thought I'd try this product and must say it surprised me. I have heard negative comments in reviews about the smell of the shampoo. I thought the fruity smell was pleasant and it left my hair feeling very soft. I have quite dry hair and prior to using the Aussie brand of shampoos could not find a shampoo that I loved to use. I thought this product did a great job on my hair.

This gift set also came with a soap and glory headband and in a lovely bag that I have reused to keep up my shower products in.

I cannot wait to buy more Soap and Glory products as I have a feeling that the ones I'm currently using will not last long!

Christmas Tag

I am completely unprepared  for Christmas. I know it's only 5 days away but I haven't even started shopping for presents. I am panicking slightly guys!! I am however, very much in the Christmas spirit with the beautiful lights at the German Markets in Birmingham and peoples houses glittering with light from their trees.

Having a look through some amazing blogs for inspiration - I have seen a lot of Christmas Tag themed blogs. So I thought I'd share my plans for christmas.

How I'm spending my Christmas

What are you usually up to on Christmas Eve?
Usually I like to sit back in my christmas pyjamas and watch TV with my family. I tend to work until around 7.30pm on Christmas Eve so when I get home I'm super tired. This is the perfect time to sit back and relax.

Who do you spend your Christmas day's with?
I've been with my lovely Fiancée Wayne for 8 years so we tend to try and see everyone. It has to be planned with military precision to work. This year we will spend Christmas with my family - my mom, dad, fiancée, sister and her boyfriend and then will travel to see Wayne's family on Boxing Day. Keeps us extremely busy but Christmas is a time for family so it's lovely to catch up.

Do you enjoy giving or receiving gifts?
I love giving gifts, just seeing peoples face when they unwrap their presents is the most exciting part of Christmas for me.

What does your outfit consist of on Christmas Day?
Usually I wear a Christmas jumper with a pair of jeans in the day and then change into a dress for the evening meal. I'd stay in my PJ's if I could but I never spend christmas at my own house.

Do you enjoy shopping for your loved one's gifts?
Yes, I absolutely love to. Usually I'm super organised, making gift idea lists and making sure everything is finished in advance. This year however, I haven't even started my present shopping yet and Christmas is only 5 days away. My work shifts have been absolutely crazy so I'm just starting to panic right about now!

Have you ever received a gift that you disliked and pretended you liked it?
Of course - I think you'd be lying if you said this hadn't happened to you. I would never want anyone to think I didn't love what they had given me so of course I'd pretend to like it.

What would your ideal Christmas be?
My ideal Christmas would be spend with all my loved ones. Snowed in, playing board games and watching a film like Love Actually.

What is your least favourite thing about Christmas?
Having to wait until I've eaten breakfast before I can open my presents. This has been a family tradition since I was young and it hasn't changed even though I'm no longer living at home. I still have to travel home and eat breakfast before opening presents.

What is the best gift you have ever received?
An engagement ring. My partner proposed to me on Christmas Day. That present is never going to be beaten.

If you could choose one person to spend Christmas with who would it be and why? (Other than family)
I can't think of anyone beyond my family!! To me, that's what Christmas is all about. Family and love. My favourite time of year.

What's your favourite part of Christmas? Let me know guys :)

I'm Pregnant!

Pregnancy is one of the most exciting things I have ever experienced. It is also one of the scariest experiences of my life. There are so many people who will be only too happy to share their advice and experiences on how you should be feeling and so many websites with information about pregnancy. Sometimes you can feel absolutely overcome with information. That's why I have started this blog. It's a way for me to share my experiences with others who will be going through similar things.

When I found out I was pregnant I was told that morning sickness wouldn't last long and that during my second trimester I would bloom.

Well....I'm now 23 weeks pregnant and I am definitely not blooming. My morning sickness is still going strong. This just shows that pregnancy is different for all of us. Don't assume just because your tired and sick that you are doing something wrong! That was one of the first things I learnt as I watched mothers coping fabulously with no morning sickness at all whilst I was slumped over the toilet.

When I found out I was pregnant I was so excited. I've been in a secure relationship for 8 years and have wanted children for a few years now. As always though, there are other things to consider - financial security has always been my primary concern.

Seeing the two blue lines was the most exciting thing I have ever saw.

Fast forward 23 weeks and even though I'm completely exhausted, the joy of feeling my little boy move makes it all so worthwhile.

I'm going to be a Mom - the tiredness will leave me (eventually!) but the joy and happiness our little jelly bean provides will last forever.

This blog isn't about providing an instruction manual for mothers to be. Let's face it we all trundle through it doing the best we can. It will however talk you through my thoughts and feelings on pregnancy and parenthood, whilst reviewing products and digesting all that information we find out there.

Please follow my blog for all things pregnancy and baby related.

Thanks

25 things about me

I've been trying to decide for a while what to write about in my very first blog post. I've thought about writing about some of my favourite things including beauty, hair, lifestyle items and my new favourite topic babies. What's the point really though when you know absolutely nothing about me.

I'm going to write about me! Just 25 things... Let's go!

1. I'm 24 years old.

2. I'm from a town called Walsall. No one usually knows where that is, so let's just say it's near Birmingham.

3. I'm six months pregnant with my first child - it's a boy!

4. I got engaged in 2008 but as the world's (I've got to be) most unorganised bride I'm still not married.

5. I'm a Music Graduate and play lots of different instruments.

6. I am terrified of flying - you do not want to be the person sitting by me on a plane during take off.

7. I sometimes eat chocolate..... for breakfast.

8. I can appear shy when you first meet me but trust me your opinion will change.

9. I love waffles and potato smilies - BEST FOOD EVER!

10. I'm a massive football fan. Girls can know the offside rule.

11. I'm terrible at playing sport - besides frisbee which I'm sure doesn't even count as a sport.

12. I love Disney films. Don't judge.

13. I'm a fussy eater and know what I definitely don't want to eat.

14. I really want to travel so probably need to get over my fear of flying sometime soon.

15. I'm counting down the days until my maternity leave.

16. I've been secretly writing (for my eyes only) for a year.

17. I'm addicted to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram... Basically just the computer.

18. For someone who likes these things, I'm not very good at using the computer.

19. I drift off into my own world all the time. So I'm not ignoring you, I'm just in my own place.

20. I prefer giving presents to receiving them.

21. I love One Tree Hill and The OC.

22. I'm pretty clumsy and have more bruises on my legs than you would think is possible.

23. I misplace things all the time.

24. I tend to say what I think but would never mean to upset people.

25. I like to think I'm a loyal person to those who have always been there for me.
