#1 Product of the Week

As a new blogger, I find it hard to be consistent with when I post on my blog. I can post weekly and then forget to post for a while. I don't want my blog to be like that so my aim is to get organised and post more regularly.

I read lots of other blogs and everyone seems to post a similar blog on a certain day of the week or month. I've been thinking recently about what blogs I enjoy writing and also about what you guys enjoy reading. So to start I'm going to post a blog talking of my favourite product of that week on a Friday.

This week I have chosen a lip balm as my product of the week. Lip Balms are an essential part of most people's make up bags. It is an essential however, that in my opinion isn't given much time in reviews.

I tried the much-hyped Baby Lips Moisturising Lip Balm by Maybelline this week. Coming in six different colours it promises to moisturise and hydrate your lips. I tried the Cherry one and really liked it.

This Lip Balm comes in a very eye-catching tube. It caught my eye as I was walking the aisles of Boots. Super bright, I was immediately drawn to the use of bright summer colours and bold writing.

I have a huge collection of lip balms at home and am pretty much happy to try anything that may tend to my dry, chapped lips. So anything that promises to 'hydrate' my lips is worth a try. I must say I love the smell and colour of these lip balms. Lots of lip balms I have previously tried have no colour to them.  This is so different. It smells and tastes amazing. *I just want to point out, I obviously didn't taste them on purpose*

The reason I have picked this product as my product of the week is simply because of these factors. I would say it was fairly hydrating and left my lips feeling smoother than before I applied the balm. However, if I was picking a lip balm based solely on how hydrated and smooth it left my lips I would pick a Nivea Lip Balm. I found myself having to reapply this lip balm quote often to feel the hydrating effect.

Overall though this product was fab and for £2.99 each you can't go wrong.

Pregnancy update

I'm so bored!! I've not officially started my maternity leave yet ( I'm still on annual leave) and I need to find things to do.

I won't lie, there are plenty of things I could be doing, none of which are as appealing as sitting down and watching This Morning followed by Loose Women. That's my problem, right there. I just cannot be bothered! My back aches and I'm super tired *way to go when I'm doing nothing* so all I've been doing is sitting down on my bottom.

I'm expanding rapidly now as I'm 29 weeks pregnant. 11 weeks to go and counting! I cannot wait. I have blood tests, flu jab and whooping cough jab tomorrow. 3 injections! THREE! As I am terrified of needles that is going to be a great day.

I have got so much cute baby stuff, it's ridiculous so I'm probably going to do a separate post or video about that. I may have got a little carried away in Mothercare. Let's just say I'm hoping that the little one fits into newborn sizes otherwise there is going to be a lot of unused clothes going on Ebay. I planned to be super organised and buy not too much of any size but then I did what I always do and got slightly confused about what sizes I actually had.

Oops.

I have a pram and a car seat now as well. They were the last of the large things I needed to buy so I'm pretty much done on that front. My lovely Parents brought them as a gift which was extremely kind. I am however, slightly concerned that neither me nor Wayne (my partner) really understand how to put the Pram up and down. This is after the kind man at Mothercare, tried and failed to make it look easy. At one point I'm pretty certain all he did was kick the pushchair in the hope that it would collapse down.

So in terms of the nursery, I haven't actually started. *face palm* At the minute the little mans room is full to the brim of carrier bags full of his stuff, cupboards full of ours and that's it. Not that I'm panicking or anything. Course not.

So anyway, that has sorta inspired me to turn off the TV and make a start. Anyone got any advice or suggestions on cool ways to decorate a nursery let me know. I need all the help I can get :)

MoneySaving

So as a mom to be on maternity leave I'm going to have to focus on all the ways in which I can save money.

Times can get tough for all of us financially and it's always good to know how to save money. I'm not at all savvy with money or spending, but it's high time that changed. This blog will still remain lifestyle centred but I will also be focusing on all the ways I can save money, get freebies and enter competitions.

I've only really started looking into this in the past week and I'm honestly blown away by the resources on the internet. Just 10 minutes a day of your time could save you money and help you win prizes.

This is what I have found so far.

This website is an amazing resource for anybody wishing to make changes to their spending. From offering advice on how to find the cheapest credit card to helping you budget your spending this site is a must. Delve into the forums and take a look at their Competitions section. It's amazing how many competitions there is on the internet currently. If your sitting there with your cup of tea just browsing my blog, get yourselves onto this section of the forum and invest your time in some competitions.

If you don't fancy delving through pages of online resources. Follow me on twitter through the link above. I enter a lot of competitions on twitter per day that only require  a RT + Follow. Feel free to follow me and utilise those links. Also I will post any helpful tips and resources I find on there for you all to see.

Lets Save and maybe win!

I'm on Maternity Leave/Holiday!

Well today is the first day of my four weeks holiday prior to my maternity leave starting. I'm not due until April, when undoubtedly my whole life will change.

I CAN'T WAIT.

There is nothing I want more than to hold my beautiful baby boy. My partner has been truly amazing throughout the pregnancy and I absolutely can't wait to have a lovely family and to get married soon as well.

I have quite a bit to do around the house. I haven't even started sorting the babies room and I have quite a bit to do in other rooms too. I never realised how much stuff I had. Where do I even start on this? I'm not particularly organised so am currently just staring into the babies room for inspiration!

I need some ideas to keep myself busy over the next few months.
These are some of the things I'd like to do:
  • I'd like to spend time just pottering around the house relaxing and watching a bit of daytime television.
  • I want to read more. I have a kindle and have so many books I'd like to read.
  • I want to update my iPod and go on walks around the park.
  • I'd like to do a bit of exercise. Any suggestions guys? I'm just not sure of what I can and can't do.
  • I'd like to visit different towns in my area.

Does anyone else have any suggestions as to what I can do. I don't want to be vegetating at home and would like to be out of the house sometimes too. I'm pretty reliant on public transport as my driving lessons went terribly prior to pregnancy and I've stopped having lessons during the pregnancy itself.

Would love to hear your thoughts and ideas, please comment below if you have anything to say

Dot by Marc Jacobs

I absolutely love Marc Jacob's Perfumes (not Lola though!) and got given 'Dot' by Marc Jacobs 100ml for Christmas. I have had this perfume on my wishlist for a long time and couldn't wait to review it.

The perfume is packaged in a sphere shaped bottle made of red glass. Lets be honest, the packaging as the first thing you see can persuade you to buy or not to buy.

I love how this perfume is packaged. Elegantly packaged in red and black polka dots, butterflies heavily appear as a theme. The lid is made up of one large butterfly with either side comprising of a smaller butterfly. Although the packaging is heavily butterfly themed, the colours red and black remind me more of a ladybird. It doesn't really matter, I love both butterflies and ladybirds!

I find the bottle very eye catching and when in a perfume shop my eyes went straight to this. I find the perfume lid quite fiddly and difficult to take on and off. I think this is more to do with the shape of the lid. It's not very practical.

Now for the scent itself, and the most important part of the perfume. I always prefer light scents for the day so this perfume is perfect. Sweet and fruity, this perfume smells fresh without being overpowering. Perfect for both day and night, this is my new favourite perfume!

Retailing at £67.50 for the 100ml bottle at Boots and £38.50 for the smaller handbag friendly 30ml, this is definitely a fabulous purchase!

New Year and Me

Happy New Year Everyone!

I was going to talk about New Years Resolutions but I never stick to them so that would be pretty pointless. Usually you'll find me sitting with my cup of tea and chocolate biscuits on the 3rd January after giving up that years diet after 3 days.

This year, I'm putting less pressure on myself. With my little man due in April and my maternity leave approaching fast, I have two main priorities for the year.

1. To be a great mom to my little boy

2.To keep blogging

Pretty obvious eh?

I'm very new to blogging and to be honest have no real idea what I'm doing at all. The idea of people reading this is completely absurd to me. When I started to write this blog a few weeks ago, I didn't think anyone would want to read it. I have 11 Bloglovin Followers though, so thank you guys.

I started this to give me a creative outlet. Working long hours and not having much time to myself, I wanted to be able to have my own little slice of the internet that I could call my own. Somewhere, I could just note my thoughts, talk about my passions and generally just something that was mine.

All I've realised though is how much I don't know.

1. I don't know how to use my Canon Camera. My knowledge ends as soon as I turn it on.

2. I don't understand HTML. It's a miracle there is a background on this blog. It took me over 2 hours to figure out.

3. I don't know how to create my first YouTube video or even where to start. I have a YouTube account though - so yay!

This is what is exciting though and hopefully by the end of the year I'll look back at this post and have answered those questions.

I might even have 100 followers.

Whatever happens, I'm still not making a New Years Resolution. I'm just making a New Years Promise to keep doing the things I love.
