Being a Mom - 6 month update

Being a mom is one of the most tiring yet rewarding experiences I have had in life so far. I'm only 25 years old but I can tell you that nothing I achieve will ever match becoming a mom. On the 8th April 2014 I had a caesarean and Jack Doughty was born. I had read every book you could find but realised that words on a page wouldn't show me how to be a parent. I'd have to gain experience in real life as a mom.

I remember the days after Jacks birth were not as I wished. I suffered a secondary post-partum haemmerage and Jack had dropping oxygen levels. I didn't get to enjoy the first few days as I was too ill. Once we left the hospital and I had been reassured about my bleeding by the midwife countless times, life as a mom truely began. When I look back over the last 6 months, I realise that I cannot remember my life without Jack being a part of it. Ok, I've worried more than I ever thought possible and have had far less sleep than I ever thought possible. Parents to be, you don't believe you can function on hardly any sleep, but trust me you can.

In those early days eat, sleep and nappy change were the order of the day. Fast forward six months and life begins to get even more fun and busy. Jack is now rolling everywhere and babbles away. We've just had to baby proof the house as Jack is now to starting to crawl and drag himself commando style across the room.
With the days of reflux and colic now largely behind us, we haved moved along to more new experiences and problems to work through. Jack is now starting to wean. This has largely resulted in a lot of mess and some very funny facial expressions.
He makes every day worthwhile and will continue this for many more days.
I'd love to hear your favourite memories as a mother. Leave a comment below!

TAG: Hello Autumn

Life sometimes gets in the way of blogging and life with my little boy is super busy nowadays. I have been finding time to catch up on posts on bloglovin but not time to write my own. So after reading a Hello Autumn Tag, I thought I'd give it a go.

1. Coffee - What's your favourite seasonal drink from Starbucks or any other coffee shop?

I love hot chocolate especially in the colder months so I'm going to go with Starbucks Classic Hot Chocolate. In the colder weather this instead of tea becomes my favourite! Just writing about it has made me want to go into town and buy one!

2. Accessories - What do you opt for scarf, boots or gloves?

I would most definitely opt for scarves. I never go out without one in the winter as I can't stand my neck being cold. I own far too many scarves with far too many prints and colours. I don't wear boots and I hate the feeling of gloves on my fingers. I'd just prefer to have cold hands instead.

3. Music - What's your favourite music to listen to during autumn?

My music taste stays the same all year. I literally listen to anything. My favourite music at the minute is the Radio One Live Lounge albums. I just love acoustic live sets.

4. Perfume - What's your favourite scent for this time of the year?

At the minute I am really enjoying Marc Jacobs Dot fragrance. I got given a huge bottle last Christmas and have only just started using it so think I may be using it for a while!

5. Candles - What scents will you be burning this season?

I love Yankee Candles but with a 6 month old boy starting to crawl around my house I've had to stop using them. I miss them already!

6. What do you love the most about autumn?

I absolutely love Autumn. As the nights draw in, Autumn just becomes more cosy. Everything seems more beautiful with all the leaves on the ground. I love curling up in the Autumn months with a cup of tea and a book or film in front of the fire.

7. Favourite make up look?

My make up stays the same pretty much all year round. I'm so fair that I find dark colours swamp me. I'll carry on sticking to golds for eyes and pinks for cheeks. I wish I had the confidence to work darker shades in the winter months!

8. What are you looking forward to the most in autumn?

I'm looking forward to spending this Autumn with my little boy called Jack. He is currently 6 months old and it will be lovely to curl up in front of the fire with him and my partner Wayne as a family.

Feel free to say hello to Autumn by taking part in this Tag. I'm tagging you all :)

I'd love to know what you love about Autumn so leave a comment below.
