My Week In Pictures #4

I have had a bit of a blogging break. I've took some photographs though...

  • You turn your back for one second and Jack decides that he would prefer the Friends discs to be all over the floor...
  • Jack loves all things transport. Jack has had this toot toot driver set since he was 12 months old. He was too young for it at the time so I put it away for the year. I have just got it back out. It's far bigger than I thought! It's took over the conservatory!

  • We had a lovely day at Cannock Chase on Sunday. We walked the Stick Man Trail.
  • Wait! Is that the sun?

  • Blogging and Hot Chocolate = perfection. My dad kindly gave me a few Cadbury's hot chocolate pods as I cannot find them anywhere!

  • A father and son photo. I love this picture.

  • I love Glossybox. I'm a fairly new subscriber. I loved the Luxie brush. If you would like to read my review, head here.

  • I gave Jack an Easter Basket this year. I included books, stickers, bubbles, crayons and chocolate. He loved it!

Glossybox | March 2016 Review

My March Glossybox has arrived! It comes with two full sized products, three travel sized items and a travel mini. Centered around giving your skin back it's glow, the box contains a combination of skincare, hair and make up products.

First up there's a Rose Gold Large Angled Face Brush 504 by Luzie (worth £10.42) It is perfect for contouring, highlighting and strobing. The brush is lovely and soft and whilst I do not contour, I will most definitely be using this brush. I never use brushes as they are intended anyway.

Next up is the Collection Speedy Highlighter (worth £3.99.) I received this in the shade 01 Pearl Sheen. Perfect for those of you that only have time for a very quick make-up routine, I was really pleased that this make up product was in the box. I just swipe it across my cheeks and above my brow bone. I will be incorporating this into my daily make-up routine for sure!

A travel sized shampoo and conditioner was also included in the box (full sized worth £16.89 each.) The Catharsis Vitamin Mineral Shampoo and Conditioner by -417 combines dead sea moisture balancing minerals and energising vitamins and essential oils to leave your hair feeling super soft. My hair is quite damaged and dry so I couldn't wait to give this a go. I'm really pleased with this product, I think it has made a real difference to how my hair looks and feels.

The last two items in my box were the Olay Regenerist Luminous Skin Tone Perfecting Cream (worth £29.99) and Hey Honey Good Morning Honey Silk Facial Serum (worth £28.81.) These both came in smaller sample sizes. The Olay Regenerist Cream works to fade discolouration and dark spots and has left my face feeling very soft and hydrated. Lastly is the Hey Honey Facial Serum. I have never used a serum before and was really impressed with the difference in my skin and final make-up look.

Jack's Easter Basket 2016

As a mom, I am always looking to start special traditions that we can do as a family every year. Jack is nearly two and whilst we have always celebrated Christmas, we have never placed any special emphasis on Easter. Last year I felt that he was too young to understand the occasion and whilst he probably still is, I thought it would be nice to place more significance on it. This year I have decided to put together an Easter basket for Jack. I put together a Christmas Eve Basket for Jack in December and found that it helped make Christmas feel even more special.

I am aware that Jack will probably receive a few small Easter eggs this year. Whilst I am certain he will love them, I thought it would be nice to create an Easter basket that contained an assortment of items that Jack will enjoy. You don't have to spend a lot of money to create a lovely Easter basket. Looking at what I have brought, I don't think I have spent any more than £20.

Jack loves reading. You will often find him with a book in hand looking at the pictures or shouting for me to read to him.We are now at a point where even though we have quite an extensive book collection, we have read every book many times! This Easter basket was the perfect excuse to buy a few more books. The first book we picked up was Peppa's Easter Egg Hunt. Jack continues to love this programme and really engages with any book based on this series. There was also an In The Night Garden Easter book that looked fantastic. Unfortunately I did not see this until I had completed Jack's Easter basket. We also brought We're Going On An Egg Hunt by Laura Hughes. I really liked this book as it is based on the classic rhyme -  We are going on a bear hunt. I know Jack will really enjoy looking for the eggs and lifting the various flaps in the book.

Keeping a toddler entertained can be tricky. Jack will play with a toy for a few minutes before moving straight onto another thing. Whilst activities such as colouring and painting do not yet capture his attention, one thing he does love is stickering. It is one of the few activities that occupies him for longer than a few minutes. This Peppa Pig Sticker Activity Book comes with stickers that are a great size and activity sheets too. I usually find stickers strewn across the house after an activity like this.

After seeing many surprise egg videos on YouTube, I stumbled across these refillable eggs in Asda. I am planning on doing an Easter egg hunt with him so thought these would be useful. I have used two for Jack's Easter Basket and have put some chocolate chicks into them. The chocolate chicks and Peppa Pig egg are from Tesco's.

Every toddler (that I know) loves Bubbles. Jack has a bubble machine and loves standing there watching them fall and finally pop. I picked up a bubble set from Tesco's. it comes with two stencils in the shape of a bunny and an egg. I also picked up bath crayons. Whilst the mess (wonderful drawings...) will drive me slightly bonkers, I am sure that having these available at bath time will ignite an interest in colouring. At the minute Jack is more interested in telling me the colours of the crayons than doing any colouring.

Have you put together an Easter basket for your little one? What did you include in it? Please leave me a comment below.

My Week In Pictures #3

I failed to take ANY pictures last week. I'm back this week and have actually managed to take
some photos.

  • Picked up this lovely cup from B&M. I'm trying to drink more water. Does diluted Ribena count?

  • Jack loves Dinosaur and puzzles. This puzzle is perfect!

I love natural photos. I didn't even know this photo of me and Jack was being taken.

  • We went to the Safari Park at the weekend. We saw lots of animals, I even managed to get a picture of Jack's favourite animal - Elephants.

I have been looking for Gurgle Magazine in the supermarkets but it was not there. Managed to snap it up in Mothercare though. I love a good read of this magazine.

  • A cheeky Kopparberg was needed after a long day.

Wicked Uncle Review

As a mom, I am always on the lookout for good quality toys that I can buy for Jack and other relatives. The days where I could spend hours looking around the shops for the perfect gift have been and gone. With a toddler, shopping is super stressful and tends to end with me not getting anything (aside from a Starbucks.) It is so much easy to just look online when Jack is sleeping. A fan of online shopping, I was delighted when I got given the opportunity to review the Wicked Uncle Website. I was sent £40 in vouchers and was told to go ahead and shop.

A children's gift specialists, Wicked Uncle's main customer is not the parent. It is the Aunt, Uncle, Brother, Sister, Nan or Grandad that is struggling to find that perfect present. It is hard enough shopping for your own child never mind another relatives! Wicked Uncle aims to take the stress out of shopping and have cool unique gifts for children of all ages. Whether your have a grandson who loves dinosaurs or a sister that loves animals, they have a gift for you.

After loading their webpage I immediately noticed the unique concept that makes Wicked Uncle stand apart from other online retailers. Their website makes shopping easy. You can search for the perfect gift in a few ways. Firstly, you can refine your search by age. Selecting the age of the recipient guarantees that you are buying a gift that is age appropriate. Jack is two in a months time, so I looked in both the Age 1 and Age 2 categories.

You can also search by gender. This helps narrow the gifts down further to offer you those gifts that a boy or girl will usually opt for. There is also a category that shows all of the gifts regardless of  the recipients gender. I opted for this one as Jack loves both cars and kitchens. If you would like to narrow your search even further you can search by category. This is helpful for those people that know a child's interests but not what to specifically buy.

Once I had chosen Jack's presents, I headed straight to the checkout. Wicked Uncle can gift wrap your present and send it straight to the recipient. It's that simple! There are many gift wrap designs to choose from. Gift wrap is £2.95 for the first present and £1.50 for each additional present. I loved the fact that you recieve a filled-in thank you note that you can send off as a thank you to the gift giver.

We chose three gifts for Jack. The first thing we chose was the Vehicle Sound Blocks by Melissa and Doug for £12.95. Jack loves puzzles and transport so this was an obvious choice. With 6 puzzles to match, the puzzle makes the noise of the vehicle pictured when you correctly match it up. Jack has had hours of fun with this already!

We also brought Jack a Chunky Dinosaur Puzzle for £8.95. I loved how bright this puzzle was and thought the chunky puzzle pieces could be used during pretend play.

Finally we brought the Poppin' Penquin Island - Bath-time Fun toy by Tomy for £17.95. Jack is just starting to enjoy bath-time.. He used to be terrified of the water but has recently started enjoying playing in the bath. He loves watching the penquins dive into the bath and loves to dance to the music. This toy has made bath-time so enjoyable.

I would really recommend looking at the Wicked Uncle website next time you are looking for a children's gift. An easy to use website that provides unique gifts, I won't hesitate to shop with them in the future.

Jack's February Toddler Favourites

Welcome once again to Jack's monthly favourites!
If you want to take a look at my February favourites, head here.

The book that Jack has loved reading... Goodnight, I Love You by Caroline Jayne Church

After three months of serious work, Jack is finally self-settling. This is largely due to his bedtime routine which you can read about here. As part of his bedtime routine we sit in Jack's little reading space (an Ikea tent) and read three books. Whilst Jack will pick two himself, the final book is always the same.

Goodnight, I Love You by Caroline Jayne Church is a book that my sister and her Fiancé picked up on their recent trip to New York. It is about going to bed and in rhyming form, takes you from bath, book to bed. Jack loves reading this and has even started finishing some of the sentences.

The toys that Jack has loved playing with... Mega Bloks

Jack has always enjoyed playing with Mega Bloks. He likes to build them high and watch as they crash down to the floor. This month however, he has been playing with them in a different way. He is starting to use them to pretend play. So far this week alone he has asked me to build him a helicopter and Fireman Sam's house. Neither of which looked like the item he asked for! He has become more interested in building different things and has not always knocked them straight down.

The TV that Jack has loved watching... In The Night Garden

Jack watches In The Night Garden as part of his bedtime routine. He loves the different colours on the screen and can already name all of the different characters. This programme has lovely music that really helps calm him down and make him aware that bedtime is approaching. He loves the books too!

The food that Jack has loved eating... Annabel Karmel's Fruity Bakes

Jack is a very fussy eater. Whilst I of course want him to eat, I also want to make sure that what he eats is healthy and made from quality ingredients. Jack has been eating these fruity bakes in both the apple and strawberry flavours. Perfect for a snack, we have had one of these ready in his lunchbox when we have been out and about.

Have you tried any of these products? What does your toddler love? Leave me a comment below.

February Favourites

It's March already, which means it is finally Spring. I'm beginning to feel as if I am getting cabin fever. The weather has been terrible and I just really want to get out of the house and take Jack somewhere exciting. We are going on a few days out this month and I am bound to spend the month trying to figure out what to get Jack for his 2nd birthday. (How fast has that gone?)

Anyway onto my favourite things in February.

The skincare item I have loved using.... Quick Fix Facials Mega Moisture Gel Mask

Despite switching up my skincare routine a few times now, I continue to have dry skin. This can really affect my confidence as even with make up on my skin is flaky and looks in need of some moisture. I spotted the Quick Fix Facials Mega Moisture Gel Mask in Boots recently and at only £4.99 thought it was worth a try.

I have been looking at trying a face mask for a while but had been put off by the expensive price of some brands. My skin is sensitive and often reacts to products, this often puts me off investing in an expensive mask.

I have used this face mask four times this month (once per week) and absolutely love it. After applying it to my face, I leave it on for ten minutes and then remove it with a warm cloth. I have already noticed a difference in my skin and with this being the only new skincare product I have tried this month, it is getting the credit!

The Shower Gel I have loved using... Snow Fairy

I am still working my way through my Lush products. I received so many Lush products for Christmas that I haven't set foot in a Lush since. I really need to rectify this!

Whilst I usually opt for bath bombs and bubble bars, my favourite this month is neither of those. Instead it is a shower gel. Snow fairy is the first shower gel from Lush that I have brought and I love it. The scent is perfect for me, without being too overpowering. I love the sweet candyfloss scent. It lingers on my skin long after I leave the shower. The only question is, why didn't I buy more of them?!

The TV I have loved watching... The Big Bang Theory

I am slightly addicted to the Big Bang Theory! I own seasons 1-8 and despite watching season one previously and loving it, I somehow failed to continue watching it. That is until I found out it was on Netflix. I am obviously just completely lazy as not having to put the DVD in and just being able to flick Netflix on, has me watching it again. I'm currently midway through season two. For anyone who just wants to relax with a comedy, this is perfect. It is practically the only thing that myself and Wayne watch together!

The app I have loved using... Netflix

I have had Netflix for over a year now and have hardly used it. That is up until now. Netflix is amazing! I already have a list full of programmes that I would like to watch. This month I have watched the Big Bang Theory, Tim Minchin Live, Love, Rosie and How I Met Your Mother.

There is such a range of programmes to cater for everyone's tastes.

The food I have loved eating... McCoys Crisps

Usually I am not a big fan of crisps. Out of all treats, it would be bottom of my list, with Chocolate obviously top. The one brand of crisps that I have been really enjoying this month however, is McCoys Crisps particularly the Cheddar and Onion flavour. I actually brought these for Wayne to take to work but have eaten quite a few packets myself.

The Youtuber I have loved watching... Serena Christina

I much prefer watching YouTube to normal television. A YouTuber that I have loved watching this month is Serena Christina. Serena is a motherhood, life and style vlogger who uploads weekly vlogs about her family life. She also uploads other vlogs on a range of topics. I have absolutely loved watching her weekly vlogs. If I see she has uploaded a video, she is the first person I watch. She is down to earth and seems such a lovely person. Check her out!

What were your favourites in February? Let me know so I can give some of them a try.
