July Round Up

Whilst I write a variety of content on my blog, I very rarely update you on my day to day life. I regularly talk about family days out and other parenting related topics but sometimes forget to talk about the smaller things - my favourite book for instance or a moment that I particularly enjoyed. Recently I read a post written by Laura from Edinburgh Life With Kids that I really enjoyed. It was a post where Laura reflected on the past month of her life. It made me feel like I was getting to know the person behind the blog and is something I think would be a nice addition to the content I write.

MY LOVE/HATE RELATIONSHIP WITH KIDS TV

I have a love/hate relationship with toddler television. I love the fact that it allows me to drink a warm cup of tea and go to the toilet in peace but absolutely hate pretending to be a member of Paw Patrol or Fireman Sam's firefighting team.

30 Things To Do With Your Child This Summer

In just over six weeks time Jack will be attending Nursery School for the first time and the school runs will begin. Over the last three years we have been able to live each day as we have wanted to with no time constraints. Lazy days, days out - we have been able to choose exactly how we wanted to spend our time. Now Jack is starting Nursery we will have less time together to do those fun activities and days out that we currently take for granted. With that in mind, I have decided to draw up a list of 30 things that I want to do with Jack this summer.

PLEASE STOP ASKING ME WHEN I'M HAVING MORE CHILDREN

When are you having more children? Are you pregnant? Surely Jack would like a little brother/sister....

These are the kind of comments and questions that I hear on a regular basis. No problem when it's a family member but when it is mere acquaintances or the checkout lady at Morrison's, I'm not so OK with it.

Jack is three and is starting Nursery in September. It's when your child is about this age, if not earlier that lots of families begin to think about having another child. However is there any need to question me on why I'm not yet pregnant? People are naturally inquisitive but I'm not sure what response they are expecting. It could be that we are not yet ready for another child. Financial reasons, house size and career choices could be a reason. It could be problems conceiving or a whole host of other reasons.

ARE YOU THE FELLOW PARENT IN THE BALL PIT? | SOFT PLAY

There are two types of parent at soft play. The cup of tea drinking one and the parent that can be found on the play equipment wishing they were the ones drinking the tea. I fall into the latter category.

Jack absolutely adores soft play. His face lights up when I mention the local soft play centre. The thought of running through the ball pit, climbing the stairs and coming down the huge wavy slide makes him very happy. My face however does not light up in the same way. For me soft play is something that as parents we tolerate for the love of our children.
