I feel like I have been pregnant forever when in reality I'm only 16 weeks into the journey. I'm not even halfway through my pregnancy yet. Happy to say I've hit the second trimester now - apparently this will be when I'm feeling my best!

Finding out you are pregnant can make you feel all kinds of emotions. For me - I have felt a mixture of absolute excitement mixed with apprehension of what is to come. I have a four year old and with him, experienced quite a difficult pregnancy and birth. This has made me feel quite nervous this time around. A natural feeling for many mums I feel regardless of any previous experiences.
Those first weeks that make up Trimester 1 are for me the most nerve-wracking. I only truly start to relax once I have had a scan. With this pregnancy due to a change in doctors I am still waiting for my 12 week scan. I did have a scan at 9 weeks because of a bleed. Thankfully baby was fine.
I thought I would list some of the things that you can perhaps expect in the first trimester. We are all different so only some of these may apply to you.

After falling pregnant very quickly with Jack, I assumed that trying for a second baby would be just as easy. How wrong I was! After a long period of trying to conceive I thought our family of three may just stay that way.  Jack had been quite vocal about wanting a sibling for around the last 6 months and whilst I knew he would love a brother/sister, we didn't really speak much about it. I didn't want to get him excited just in case it didn't happen. Each month I always thought I had symptoms. I'd buy pregnancy tests and they were always negative. That one line would always appear.

When Jack turned four I remember feeling very proud that we had conquered the terrible two's and threenage years without too much of an issue. I had heard about all the difficulties that parents of two and three year olds faced and although we'd overcome some tantrums and separation issues, overall we had come through it relatively unscathed. I'd got this parenting malarkey down to a tee I thought. That was until Jack hit four and became a fournager. Didn't know that existed? You're not the only one.

Today marks the start of a new era in Jack's life and ours as parents. Today Jack starts Reception. After a year in Nursery, he is making the transition to full-time school. He flourished at Nursery and I'm in no doubt that he is ready to learn, play and make friends at his new school. He didn't get into the Reception attached to his Nursery School and today will be getting used to entirely new surroundings with no-one he knows around.

Kidlo Apps Review: English and Maths Learning For Kids

Technology plays such a large part in our day to day lives. From using computers at work to using the internet on our mobile phones - technology is completely unavoidable. The use of technology in a child’s upbringing however is something that causes great debate.

I’m a believer that used in moderation technology such as iPads can be beneficial. There is so much educational content available on them that they can be a great educational tool and whilst Jack does use the iPad to watch YouTube Kids whilst I cook dinner, I do also like to sit with him on the more educational apps and interact with him as he uses them.

I was recently contacted by Kidlo Apps and asked if I would like to review two of their apps  Kidlo English App: English Learning For Kids and Maths Games: Preschool Maths Game For Kids. Having previously reviewed their Kidloland App and seen the quality of it, I could not wait to take a look at these apps and try them out with Jack.

The Kidlo range of apps are educational apps with a primary focus of providing educational content for children between the ages of 0-5.

We first tried the Kidlo App: English Learning For Kids. Aimed at children between the ages of 2-5,  it introduces the alphabet and hundreds of words through  songs, games and stories.

Jack is four years old and is currently learning phonics at Nursery. I try to spend some time on a daily basis going through letters and phonics but have quickly realised how important it is to keep this process fun. This app does that perfectly. From being able to listen to songs and play games to help him learn his phonics to being able to trace upper and lower case letters this app has really captured his attention.

It has been a lovely way of learning through the use of technology. Jack in particular has enjoyed the flash cards section of this app - in particular the vechile ones. We have been using this app for a few weeks and there is still so much to do. It really does have a lot of content.

We next tried the Kidlo: Maths Games For Kids app. I was really looking forward to trying this app with Jack. I find that he really enjoys counting, adding up and sequencing and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of activities on this app. From number games and geometry to sorting and categorising - this app was Jacks favourite. Jack loved popping the balloons whilst counting whilst i really enjoyed the property based activities on the app which showed the differences between objects based on their height and weight.

Overall I’m very impressed with both of these apps. Perfect for engaging young children in English and Maths, Jack really looks forward to his iPad time just so he can put these on. With so many activities still left to try, it’s an app which really builds on his learning and gets more difficult as you work through it. I would definitely recommend for those parents looking for an app which provides educational content within a fun setting.

Disclaimer:  I was gifted these apps in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

New Years resolutions - do you make them? I often have the best of intentions come the new year but come the second week of January, I have usually completely given up on what I resolved to do.

This year I thought I would set myself some 2018 goals and share them with you all. I've only set myself a few goals as I really want to be successful in achieving these goals rather than setting too many and not achieving any of them. I'm hoping that the fact that the festivities are over will help me with one or two of these resolutions.
